Abstract
The representative model of liberal democracies, especially in Brazil, is experiencing a crisis, making it necessary, therefore, to re-read this paradigm, considering the lack of representation of social minorities in national parliaments, given that several minority groups are not effectively represented in politics due to the current methodology, thus being subjected to a type of
underrepresentation. There is an idea of participation in the construction of history, but what actually occurs is social control by the system itself and society acting only as one of the means for its maintenance. Considering the reasons presented, the present work using a qualitative and quantitative methodology – with data analysis and its interpretation – understands that
proposals for greater political inclusion with regard to democratic processes are necessary, including measures that provide increased representation of sub-national groups. represented, especially when dealing with minorities or
those subject to structural inequalities.
