Abstract
The purpose of this following article is to answer the question: how do the characteristics of elected female candidates impact their electoral success in Brazil? To this end, we evaluated the data contained in the repository collected from the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court on
male and female candidates for the municipal elections of 2020. The variables analyzed were range from education rate level, marital status, and ethnicity or race to gauge the weight of the impact of each one to explain the profile of the elected. The analysis considered 18,478 candidates, divided by gender, success in the election and region of
the country to understand what the characteristics of elected women candidates are and how they impact electoral success. We used SPSS to cross-reference the variables and analyze the data. The conclusion is that there are differences between the profiles of elected and non- elected male and female candidates and by region within Brazil.
